Rep. Wortz calls to strengthen Michigan’s election integrity efforts
RELEASE|July 23, 2026

State Rep. Jennifer Wortz (R-Quincy) today delivered the following statement in response to President Trump’s address regarding election integrity:

“Michiganders need to have confidence in our electoral process, and right now we have questions that deserve clear answers. Local clerks are seeing names added back to the qualified voter file after they have been removed due to death or non-residency. If this is accurate, it raises serious concerns about the integrity of Michigan’s voter registration system and whether local efforts to maintain accurate voter rolls are being undermined by actions at the Secretary of State’s office. These reports deserve a thorough review, so election officials and the public can have confidence in the accuracy of the voter file.

“Along with this, a constituent reached out to show me an absentee ballot that had been issued to his son, who has not been registered to vote in Michigan for several years. His son currently resides in California and voted there two years ago. We need to review how absentee ballots are being issued to see whether voter registration records are being properly updated when people move to another state. The people of Michigan must be reassured that our elections are being held with firm safeguards in place.”
